Cycling in KB: A May of Challenges and Teamwork

This year, we decided to strengthen not only our own participation but also the collective experience — which is why we organized several community rides throughout May. In the mornings and afternoons, from different parts of Prague and beyond, we pedaled together — whether from Smíchov, Unhošť, or the romantic early morning Okoř, or in the opposite direction after work, to enjoy a good coffee together and give our minds a break after a demanding day.

More than 20 cyclists took part in a total of six rides — including both seasoned riders and newcomers, who had the chance to experience what a relaxed ride to work alongside colleagues feels like. They also learned how to plan a safe route, what works best against the rain, or how cycling can be an effective form of networking across different departments.

The weather in May wasn’t exactly ideal, but as the saying goes: “There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing!” So, even though we got caught in a few showers here and there, it never stopped us — or wiped the smiles off our faces.

On our rides, we often crossed paths with employees from neighboring companies — and on one occasion, we even met up with our partners from Mastercard, who happened to be hosting their own cycling camp in the Brdy hills. This only goes to show that cycling is becoming a social connector not just within companies, but between them as well.

Cycling as Part of Company Culture

At Komerční banka, we’ve long supported an active and sustainable lifestyle — and for many of us, the bike is a daily mode of transport, no matter the season. Yet the Bike to Work Challenge reminds us every year that we’re not alone. Thanks to the work of AutoMat, this form of transport is getting more visibility, which in turn helps improve safety and consideration on the roads.

We believe that activities like these strengthen team spirit, build relationships, and turn an ordinary day into something memorable. We’re already looking forward to next year’s edition.
