May Challenge Do práce na kole 2024 Rules

The May Challenge Bike to Work (Walk, Scooter or Jog) is intended for teams of working people, for students, but also for independent profesionals and seniors. You can apply from all over the Czech Republic (also from abroad) and if you don’t have a team, you can participate on your own.

Categories for May Challenge for 2024

This year, the following categories are announced (detailed rules for each category can be found below in the text).

Team Regularity is the main category of the entire challenge, where your entire team of two to five rides/runs/walks to work as often as possible during May (you must complete at least 66.6% to be entered into the prize draw sustainably travel to and from work – by bike, on foot, by trotting, on an electric bike, etc.).

Green Kilometers for individuals and Green Kilometers on their own – categories for district champions who like to put in the effort and ride (run, walk) a lot of kilometers every day.

Cycling employer of the year – competition for companies that exemplarily support their employees in gentle transport to work (by bike, run or on foot). This poll is announced by each city separately as part of the closing party, but at the same time we also reward one of the best Cycling Employers from the entire country (see detailed rules below).

Cykloměsto and Cykloskokan Bike to Work – participating cities are evaluated by the participants of the May challenge, as well as the public, based on a detailed questionnaire that takes into account indicators of conditions for movement as well as the feelings of cyclists in a given city. Cycling cities Bike to Work 2024 will be announced during September (see detailed rules below). Starting in 2022, we are announcing the title Cykloskokan Do práce na kole, which is won by the city that, according to the evaluation of the respondents, has made the most forward progress in 1-2 years.

Each city can change the rules slightly, so check in which categories you can participate in your city.

If you still have questions regarding the rules, contact us at kontakt@dopracenakole.cz.

Recording of journeys

You have the opportunity to register your trips until 11:59 p.m. on June 3, i.e. 3 days after the end of the challenge. And that’s so that we have time to draw award winners, sign the diplomas and wrap the prizes for the final announcement of the results.

General rules

Participants over the age of 16 from all over the country can participate in the Bike to Work (or on foot) challenge.

Registration takes place on the website www.dopracenakole.cz. When registering, choose one of the cities in which you will walk, run, or ride a bike as the catchment city. When choosing a city, take into account that you will possibly be announced in this city as part of the final announcement. You can visit and use T-shirt Promotions in any city where T-shirt Promotions are taking place.

Detailed rules

The basic prerequisite for participation in the challenge is registration, which runs until April 30, 2024 at www.dopracenakole.cz, payment of the participation fee and the formation of a team of 2-5 participants. You can also participate in the challenge individually, it will not be included in the Regularity category, which is a team one. However, you will see your regularity in the Bike to work system.

The amount of the participation fee depends on the date of your registration. For registration in the period from February 1 to February 29, 2024 (inclusive), the fee is CZK 430, for registration in the period from March 1 to March 31, 2024 (inclusive), the fee is CZK 480, for registration from April 1 until April 16, 2024, the fee is CZK 500, and for registration from April 17 to April 30, 2024, the fee is CZK 550.

In each registration period, participants can also choose a beneficial entry fee of CZK 750, a proportional part of which is intended for the further development of the Bike to Work challenge (development of the IT system, website, increase of team capacities). In the price of the participation fee, the participant will receive a T-shirt of his or her choice, socks or a neckerchief, the opportunity to enter the T-shirt Event and the final announcement of results.

The prices shown are exempt from VAT.

Any number of teams can be created in one organization. The team is registered under one branch of one organization. If the participant does not find a colleague in the team, he or she can form a team with anyone else (with people from another branch or from another organization, from a circle of friends or family, or can find a team member via the Facebook groups To work by bike in individual cities) . One city must always be chosen for one team.

T-shirts are distributed according to the date of payment or approval by the company coordinator at the end of the given wave to the given branch to all approved (paid) team members at once.

A team member can withdraw from the team at any time at his or her own request. The decision is irreversible, it is not possible to return to the team, the results of this member are not taken into account when evaluating the team’s results. You cannot be replaced by another person during the running challenge. If only one participant remains in the team, he will only participate in the individual category.

Route record

As part of the challenge, any trip to or from work, from school, or shopping, which the participant will make on a sustainable means of transport (bicycle, scooter, skate…), or on foot or while running, can be recorded. E-bikes are also allowed. You can write down trips that you would otherwise be able to make in the car. Please do not write down trips that are purely excursion, sports.

The maximum number of routes that can be counted in one day is two. If you have made several trips, you can combine them into one trip there and one back.

The minimum length of the route in one direction must be at least 1.5 km.

In the case of working from home (home office), instead of a trip to/from work, you can also enter a health walk/outing or another non-motorized trip (shopping, etc.).

Individual modes of transport can be alternated at will during the Bike to Work run. The participant also regularly records the chosen mode of transport on the web profile or in the mobile application.

Each member of the team, through their web profile or some mobile application, records the distance and the way they cover the route, using one of the following methods:

  • manual upload of GPX files from other applications,
  • filling in a typical route in the registration system,
  • filling in the number of kilometers traveled in the table in the calendar in the system,
  • mobile applications Cycle to work, Cyclers, Strava, On a bike in Prague (rides are automatically uploaded to the web profile from the mobile application).

Combined journeys are also included, which are partly carried out under one’s own power and by other means of transport (train, tram, bus, metro, trolleybus, car). As part of these trips, only the part of the route on which the participant moves under his own power can be counted, if this part has a total length (in one direction) of at least 1.5 km.

It is possible to record activities manually for a maximum of 8 days back (so, for example, on Mondays it is possible to record rides for the past Monday at the latest). After the end of the challenge, rides can be recorded until 6/3/2024 11:59 p.m. at the latest.

The announcement of the results and the handing over of local prizes takes place in the city in which the participant is registered for the challenge. The results of the nationwide categories will be announced as part of the final announcement, which will be held in June in Prague.

_____________________________________________________________ x 100
twice the total number of working days of all team members

The total number of registered trips of individual members and team members is based on the actual status.

The local city coordinator will draw at least three winning teams from his city that meet the condition of at least 66.6% regularity and will announce and appreciate them at the final announcement of the results in June 2024.

The main organizer will draw twenty-five winning teams from all over the Czech Republic, which meet the condition of at least 66.6% regularity and will be appreciated in June 2024.
